Position Overview:

The Cannabist Company, one of the largest and most successful vertically integrated, publicly traded cannabis companies in the US, is seeking an Accountant to join their accounting and finance team in Chelmsford, MA. This role offers an opportunity for an accounting professional to learn and gain exposure to multiple accounting areas and to establish themselves within a rapidly growing and complex industry.

Major Areas of Responsibility include:

  • Participate in the monthly general ledger close process in a multi-entity environment
  • Preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and other accounting and reporting schedules
  • Assist in review of general ledger detail and collaboration with AP team to make sure transactions are coded properly
  • Assist with intercompany reconciliations and eliminations
  • Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure all accounting entries are recorded accurately and timely
  • Work collaboratively and assist with requests from other areas in the Finance department, such as FP&A and Treasury
  • Support the year-end financial audit to ensure timely completion of audit request and inquiries
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications (Skills, Knowledge & Abilities):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA a plus
  • 1-3 years of experience in Accounting
  • Well organized and dependable, strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent and effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High degree of professionalism and integrity with the ability to effectively collaborate as an individual contributor in a team environment.
  • Solid Excel and Outlook skills. Experience using Intacct or other Sage products is a strong plus.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn but confident enough to propose new ideas.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age

·      This job operates in an office setting and is largely sedentary, requiring the routine use of a computer and other standard office equipment.  The ability to lift or move up to 5 pounds, bend, reach, and perform manual tasks may also be required.
